Warner’s absence will have little impact on SRH

If one door closes, the other opens, according to Tom Moody.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach believes the absence of ex captain and prolific run getter David Warner will be compensated by other players “who are ready to seize on the opportunities.”

## ## In an interaction after new members of the team were presented team jerseys here on Thursday, Moody said, “It is all about collective effort and not that only individuals matter as the team prepares to regain the IPL trophy it won in the 2016 edition. We have a number of players who are ready to seize on the opportunities [received by them] by rising to the occasion.”

‘Lot of depth’

Despite the absence of Warner, Sunrisers Hyderabad is “a very good side,” felt Moody. He said, “Warner batted and led the team well and was an important member of our team. But, even as some developments unfolded recently which saw him out of the team, we still feel we are a very good side with lot of depth.”

He added, “There is very little we can do with Warner. We have to keep moving on as a team. There will be very little impact by way of Warner’s absence. We got the depth and balance thanks to the freedom in auction we got the players we wanted to be in the team.”

Kiwi touch

The team management is delighted to have Kane Williamson stepping in as the captain. Moody said, “We all know how the cricketing nations respect New Zealanders for the way they play the game. And, Kane played an important role in the last couple of seasons with us and we are glad that he is ready to step up and stand out as a leader,” he said.

Moody outlined the reasons to choose English opener Alex Hales in the squad. He said, “We strongly felt that he is of international quality and being a right hander should be the perfect complement to left handed Shikhar Dhawan. And, he is completely dedicated to white ball cricket, which is important to us.”
